A small sigh of relief

Nela just let me know that the HoE Floss Tag exchange has finally reached her. I was really worrying over this one because I mailed it on Halloween! I'm glad I don't have to stitch a replacement because I really liked it (even though the big tag is a little too big.)

We found out this week that my dad has prostate cancer...it's very small and very early, so completely treatable. But still scary. Anytime you hear the "C" word, it's scary. My dad has a great attitude about it and I know that God will get us through this speed bump. Many hugs to all of you...

  4. My dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer about 8 years ago. Did very well with surgery and recovery - no other treatment needed. He's had a clean bill of health since too. I agree though - the "C" word is often overwhelming and very scary! I'm keeping you and your family in my prayers!

  10. Staci - I will keep your family in my prayers. I definitely know how scary hearing that "C" word is. It leaves a pit in your stomach and makes it feel like nothing will ever be the same again. Trust me, it does get better. It's wonderful that they found it early. I'm sure things will end up fine.

  11. Sorry to hear about your dad but you're right, it is entirely treatable. My dad had this a couple of years ago and is fine now. Nonetheless until he's over it, it's natural to worry.

Your stitching from the Quaker House is lovely and very clever to do it that way!

  17. Lurrv the floss ring tag, Staci!!! Wasn't it freaky to put in the eyelet, not just through the fabric, but through your own stitches as well...LOL?!!
Strangely enough, I find all these "my dad had it too" stories rather disconcerting, yet comforting as well! So many people are keeping you and your dad in their thoughts and that can only be a good thing!

The fact that your father has a great attitude is half the battle. So glad they have caught it early. Best wishes to him for many more happy and healthy years once this is taken care of.

Good thoughts are going your way too as the family always suffers just as much as the patient.

  26. Staci, I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad's news, but so glad to hear he found out in the early stages. My step-father just went through the same findings this year and because of early detection, he's already done his treatments and the prognosis is excellent! I know it's scarey, no matter how small and I pray he will be rid of it very soon.

    I LOVE your floss tags:)

  30. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your dad and your entire family during this time. My dad went through this awhile back and I think I was more of a nervous wreck about it than he was. All is well now and he is fine. Just remember, God never gives us more than we can handle (even though we do have to wonder sometimes! LOL). It is so good it was discovered early! Big hugs to you and your family!

  32. My dad has PC also. He was diagnosed 2 years ago. The only treatment he has had is a shot in the hip once a month for 3 months. They really have so many new ways of treating. Good luck to your dad and we'll pray for him.
