Here Comes Peter Cottontail

Hoppin down the bunny trail! Hurray, my stitching mojo has returned!!!

So, I'm not really sure this is actually finished. What? You say it's already framed? Yeah, I know. I didn't stitch the eyelets that are supposed to be scattered across the bunny's body. I debated, and the more I looked at them, the more distracting I thought they were to the overall pattern. I don't know, what do you think?

I used the DMC alternatives because I had every intention of dipping it in coffee when the stitching was complete. And I haven't done that either. Another decision I'm having trouble with. I went ahead and framed it, because I can always take it apart and add eyelets and coffee later :) And I just sort of "needed" a finish, if you know what I mean!

But, I'm kind of liking it just the way it is. Oh decisions, decisions!!!

  2. He's a cutie just the way he is. And how timely I finally ordered this pattern after a couple years of having it on the wishlist.

  3. Love it as is! Also, I think the pure white material is best for Spring....rather than coffee dying it. Lovely work!!!

  6. Oooh spooky, I was stitching on mine 2 minutes ago. I had never even thought about leaving off the eyelets, but he does look good without them. You have just made my life harder - I´m so bad at making decisions! Especially as yours looks so good :)

  7. Well, I wouldn't have know there was anything missing if you hadn't mentioned it, so I say leave it as it is, it's a lovely finish!

  10. I like your bunny just the way he is. The original looks to me anyway as if he would have the chicken pox. I like yours better. Your bunny looks healthy and pops out so much clearer.

  11. The simplicity without the eyelets is lovely. I think it would be too busy with eyelets. What is the purpose of them anyway?

In terms of the fabric, I wouldn't use the coffee- it has such a clean look of spring with the unstained background.

I just love how the pattern extends past the border - it draws the eye to it!

Congrats on the return of the mojo!!! YIPEE!! HaPpY DaNcE !

  36. Peter is beautiful, Staci!!!! I think you're right about the eyelets, but will you dis-blog me if I tell you that I think a dunk in coffee might make him look even prettier... Please don't be mad... it's just one crazy woman's opinion... LOL!!

  37. I like it the way it is right now~~ It is gorgeous!!!!!

  38. Oh! I love him just the way it is. If you think it needs something more, could you just coffee dye him with a paint brush?, just a thought
    Love the stitching from Harmien.

  39. Isn't that just the most adorable thing ever ... i love it! such a pretty little finish, i vote leave it as is.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oh, I think he's adorable! I'm in the middle of stitching mine and I've already got half of the eyelets done or else I might copy you and leave them off. Love it!

And I won't be too much help with the do I/don't I coffee stain. I like it both ways.. it's gorgeous as is, but the coffee staining would really complete the antiquey feeling of BBD pieces, too.

    Congrats on the gorgeous finish!

  41. I like your Easter bunny. He looks unfussy and clean and stands out. I also like it undyed for the same reason.

  42. I like it just the way it is, sans eyelets and coffe stains.

Glad to see you're stitching again, I'm actually feeling a need to play with wool but I haven't given in yet. My spinning wheels, knitting needles, and looms are calling but I have my hands over my ears until I get some more stitching done :-)

  43. Well, I definitely am a little short on the creativity scale, but I think you should just go with your gut feeling. To me, there had to be some reason that you left off the eyelets and have not stained it yet. Best not to second guess yourself. I myself think that is is just too cute!

  44. Here's another vote for leaving him just the way he is. I just LOVE the way he turned out. So cute! And what a wonderful RAK from Harmien!! Beautiful stitching and so thoughtful. {{{{HUGS}}} friend. :)

  45. I love this pattern. I didn't when I first saw it, but my tastes have changed a lot since I started stitching!

I would have loved to see you tea dye it, but only because I have stitched a piece and want to tea dye it too. I've never done that to a piece after its been stitched. Interested in seeing how it looks.

I do like it just as is too. Yes, decisions, decisions!

Look at You! One year and 40+ comments! You go girl!

  49. It's wonderful the way it is. I always liked this pattern, but could never bring myself to buy it, now I know why, leave off the eyelets, he looks more natural without them.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Its great! I say leave it. Forget those eyelets and dyeing. He's framed and looks great! ^_^

  53. I love little Peter - so white and fresh and I don't think he needs a coffee dunking at all. However if you change you mind, then stitch him again dunk his twin. I'll be happy to take whichever one you don't want :-D
