Crazy Crafting

Hello dear ones!  Has it really only been a week since I last posted?  There's been so much going on.  In the past week:  we attended the Denver Auto Show, have had 4 football practices and 3 games, a spring music concert, 2 softball practices and 2 games, 4 track practices and 1 meet, sent Oldest on the bus for a band trip to Grand Junction for 3 days, and I've worked twice.  I thank my lucky stars I don't work full-time (or have more kiddos!)

In the midst of all the craziness, I've been bitten by the startitus bug.  I just LOVE a new start :)  I felt it was time for a new set of pillowcases, and thankfully, I love lazy daisies and French knots.  (I detest satin stitch, btw.)

Why start one new project when TWO would be so much better???  And this one'll be a looong-term project since those little granny squares are only 3 1/2 inches.  I'm feeling so smug because all this yarn came from my stash...such foresight, lol!!!  See that humungous, colorful pile of DMC tapestry wool?  Bought at a garage sale ages ago in a big bag with a pile of little woven square samples and fingering weight wool for $10  :)  We'll see how much I'm loving this project when it comes time to weave in the ends and sew the squares together, lol!!!

Guess that sums up the happenings in my neck of the woods.  Today is going to be a blissfully quiet day so I hope to make some project progress.  Thanks for stopping by my little cyber-patch today, have a good one!

PS.  I've updated my De-Stash Blog.

  3. I'm drooling over your little basket. What lovely colors! I like Grannies, because you can finish one or two a day, and you feel like you really accomplished something. They're good projects to take to all those practices and games.

  7. Nice starts! I started making up that freebie you gave to Paula in DMC 310 of all things, lol! (I do hope you agree with me that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!)

  9. Definitely fun-looking starts. You are the only one I know who loves French knots! Although I do believe they are easier to do on that kind of embroidery than on cross stitch fabrics.

    Enjoy!

  19. Busy week indeed. I am glad to know that I am not the only ADD Crafter. I am trying to fend off the Startikus illness by burying myself under a blanket of WIP's! lol Good luck on your grannie square. They are such fund to make and you have pretty colors to work with. I love the pillowcase idea. I am re-painting and re-decorating a newly vacated bedroom and think I may do this for the bedding.

  21. Oh, those pillowcases brought back such great memories, Staci. I used to do the embroidered pillowcases way back in high school in the early '70s--I'll bet my mom still has them in her linen closet back home. Yours are just lovely...

  26. Staci,
It's always a pleasure visiting your blog as there is such a variety of different things to enjoy. As you know I love old transfer printed embroideries and to see your pillowcases is a real treat. It's s nice to see these traditional embroidery stitches especially Lazy Daisy which is one of my favourites.
The granny squares are so sweet and are very satisfying as they can be worked really quickly. I'm sure when you see a huge pile of them you won't be able to resist stitching them all together :>)
