I quickly knit up a plain pair for my sock knitting friend Sally (no blog.) Sally is new to sock knitting, but her first few pairs have been expertly done :)
64st basic stockinette sock
Size: Women's sm/med
Yarn: Serenity by Deborah Norville, color #10 Amethyst
2 skeins: 50g/230yds
Needles: size 1 dpn's
Plain 'ol vanilla socks can seem boring to most. But they're the perfect project for me when I'm busy, or distracted, or tired, etc. They keep my hands busy and I don't have to concentrate :)

3) 48st basic stockinette socks~~women's sm/med~~Magic Stripes, color #201 Denim Stripe, 100g/330yds~~sz 3 dpn's
4) 48st basic 3x1 ribbed sock~~women's sm/med~~unknown thrifted yarn (sportweight?)~~sz 3 dpn's
5) 48st basic stockinette socks~~women's sm/med~~Paton's Kroy FX, color #57242 Clover Colors, 50g/166yds (2 skeins)~~sz 3 dpn's
I've been making quite a dent in my sock yarn stash. So I really needed to fill that dent back in. And Mother's Day was the perfect time for some stash enhancement ;) The group on the left came from KnitPicks, the group on the right from Little Knits, and the sweet scissors in front from Anita's Little Stitches.
Whew! I think that brings the blog back up to date! One more week of school in my neck of the woods~~WooHoo! No more out-the-door at 7AM. No more 75 miles of driving every day. No more homework!!! Of course, they might be driving me and each other crazy in a few weeks, LOL ;)

A wealth of beauty AND information here for this sock addict! Love those basic socks; I make notes of your cast-on count and needle size so I can break away from my 60 cast on #3s. I start with #3 then switch to #2 as I tend to be a bit "tight" with the ribbing. Next time I think I will try #2 to #1 since your Amethyst Deborah Norville's came out totally different then mine did. I certainly like the effect you got much better. Have bought from Knit Picks, but never from Little Knits. I'll have to check them out. Just cast on for pair #20!!

Oh Boy does that bread look

Great socks! And so many of them! In the time you've done those, I've only added a few rows to one sock. Looks like you'll be knitting a some more to the pile with your pretty new yarn additions.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE my socks! They are anything but plain vanilla. ;) And I doubt you actually knew this, but my new grandbaby's birthstone is AMETHYST!!!! So, so cool. (So is my daughter's BTW!). I treasure my socks and will love every minute they hug my feet. Thank you so very, very much. You have a most generous spirit that is inspirational.

Wow, you are without doubt the queen of sock knitting - all your beautiful socks almost makes me want to run out and buy some knitting needles ... almost ... :P (I was taught to knit basic stitches by my Mum but I get bored too quickly so stick to my stitching)

I love sock pictures. they are so pretty and colorful. I don't knit but I appreciate the look of them and the time it takes to make and can imagine the feel of them. Nice pretty work. Congrats.
