Jan Ornies

When it came time to put up our tree this past Christmas, I was rather disappointed with myself that I hadn't made any new ornaments...we didn't even have one of my felted heart ornies.  This year, I'm doing an ornament-a-month SAL with Valerie, Lois and Carol.  And I'm putting a little twist on mine.  I have several stitched ornies in my needs-finishing drawer, so in addition to stitching an ornie a month, I'm also going to finish one oldie a month too.

This month's ornament is a kit I've had a long time.  And to be perfectly honest, I hated every stitch.  I've never stitched with pearl cotton over 2 on 18ct linen, and I didn't like it.  It's a darn good thing that snowman's so cute...

Bent Creek Zippies:  Snowman
linen, pearl cotton and button incl in kit

This month's oldie-from-the-drawer was stitched for me by my dear, sweet friend Jody.
Thanks Jody, I'll finally enjoy looking at it on my tree!

So now I'm going to sneak in a little giveaway.
(I love doing that at the end of post!)

If you'd like the Snowman Chart,
leave a comment on this post only.
Be sure to include your email address if it isn't attached to your name.
I'll draw a name on Sunday (Jan 9th.)
Good Luck
and Thanks for Stopping By!

  1. Not even one week into the new year and you have not one but two ornies completed. My jaw is dragging on the floor - GO YOU! I haven't even thought about next Christmas. Impressive!

Great idea to finish an older ornie a month!

  11. Cute finishes! I'm with you on the perle cotton on 18-count-- yuck. I did one of their Zippers like that and I wish I hadn't. Such adorable patterns wasted on awful canvas a perle.

    Happy New Year!

  19. You inspire me so much, Staci! Every time I think about wanting to do ornaments each month, I remember your posts about how you've been able to give friends home made things. I'd so love to be able to do that this year! I am going to enjoy watching your ornament SAL this year! I love your finishes and your own twist to the SAL, too. YGG!

  20. I'd LOVE to have this pattern hun; I love snowmen. :) I also said I would try to make at least 1 ornament a month this year; so far nothing; I'm doing the crazy challenge and have been starting a new project everyday (for the first 15 days) then I'll hopefully be able to stitch a ornament. Great finishing hun.

    Hugs, Shar

I've done a bunch of their zipper kits and hate stitching them too because I don't like the threads or the stiffness of the fabric but they are so darn cute I keep getting sucked in by them! lol

I truly hate 18 ct and pearl cotton too, but I do love the Zippies .. the designs are sooo cute. So when I stitch one up, I substitute the floss/fabric I'm comfortable with. Good for you for stitching him ... he is adorable. And of course, add me please in the drawing :)
