Briar Rabbit

What a quick stitch this was! I think he's so cute :)

Briar Rabbit by La-D-Da
fabric: 32ct Queen Anne's Lace
fibers: DMC
frame from Hobby Lobby

I chose a much lighter fabric. I think the darker fabric of the model masks the sweetness of the design. I've put the pattern on my de-stash blog if anyone is interested. **edited** this chart has been sold, thank you for your interest!

And now a question dear friends. These are the two bunnies I've stitched for Easter (the BBD bunny is from last year.) I'd like to stitch another one. Something sweet, but not too cutesy (and definitely not cartoonish.) Prim or vintage looking would be good too. Any suggestions???

Thank you everyone for all the love-ly comments on my Valentine basket...they sure warmed my heart :)

And for Corinne from Paris: these are the patterns from my patriotic basket...

**Liberty and Justice by Little House Needleworks
**Stars and Stripes by Little House Needleworks
**USA Squared by Lizzie Kate
**God Bless America by Lizzie Kate
**SnapHappy Independence Day by Bent Creek
**4th of July Bird by Heart in Hand
**Glory by The Trilogy
**Sailing Sloop freebie by Rainbow Gallery
**Patriotic Garden by Waxing Moon (LNS freebie)
**Freedom by Lizzie Kate (LNS freebie)

Alrighty, I think that's all for me folks! Thanks for stopping by my neck of the woods!!!

Darn WiPs! Maybe since I can't go after it now you'll decide to then I can see it!

  15. I love your bunnies!!! Have you seen the new releases from Prairie Schooler? Their Signs of Spring leaflet has some nice bunnies. BeckySC has already stitched and finished one! There have been some other great suggestions so far so I can't wait to see what you decide to stitch!

  17. Oh Stacie, love this rabbit. You are definitely right in choosing a lighter fabric for it so that it shows off the design much better!

I can't think of a bunny pattern off hand but I think With Thy Needle & Thread has some cute Easter patterns.

  24. Your rabbit is just beautiful Staci! My goodness each stitch is just perfect!

The only other rabbit designs I can think of off the top of my head are Easter Rabbit (think that's what it is called) by Goode Huswife or the free rabbit designs from last year on the Gazette 94 blog.

Back to cleaning the refrigerator. :(

  28. So cute! The light fabric was definitely the right choice. I always find fabric selection a tricky thing.

How about those Plum Street Sampler freebies with the bunnies. They look like they would match the style.

  32. I love those Bunnies, they are adorable! I also think the lighter cloth is better. I was going to suggest the Plum Street Sampler Bunnies that a previous poster suggested, I think they would look great and I think there was a few different ones that were posted on her blog.

  45. Love your changes! I immediately thought of Patience 1898 (suggested in another comment, too) and Meg's Bunny (Sheepish Designs)when I read you were thinking of another bunny finish.

  46. I love it and am so sad that the pattern has sold already.

    What a sweet little rabbit!

    ReplyDelete
  47. What a great finish and I really like it so much better on the lighter fabric.

  48. Staci,
I love your lighter version of Briar Rabbit. He seems to hop right out of the picture and is much livelier and busy, just like a rabbit should be somehow and the frame is perfect for it.
I think it's a great idea stitching another companion for your set and some of the suggestions have been excellent. If it was me, I think i would choose of the Sheepish Designs Wabbits. She has got several. Wabbit in the Garden is my favourite but Easter Wabbit is appropriate.

It's always a pleasure to stop by your neck of the woods :>)

  50. Staci - I just love your bunny - what a sweet piece. Both of them are wonderful, as a matter of fact. I definitely like that you stitched your recent one on lighter fabric - I have to agree that something does get lost when it's stitched on darker fabric. Can't wait to see what the next one is that you stitch.

  66. Love the Briar Rabbit finish. It looks so different in the lighter colour, which I do prefer.

  70. What an adorable finish, Staci! YGG! It reminds me that I have this all kitted up... I think I actually bought the kit of it from Market. It is too cute. I agree with Berit's suggestion of Patience 1898, it would go nicely with the rabbits you've already done. Also, La D Da has two other rabbit designs where the two rabbits are looking at each other--they can be stitched individually. They're not too cutesie.

  71. Adorable! You are SO right about the fabric choice for this one. Lovely!

  73. Hi Staci,

I keep a pad and pen handy near
the computer so that whenever I
discover a new (to me) cross
    stitch design stitched by some
one else I can write down the
    chart name and designer and
order it for myself at some
    point in time.

I'm writing Briar Rabbit on that
list!! This is such a cute
design, but seeing the cover of
the chart I realized that I would
not have given this project a
second glance going by the look
of it stitched on that green (?)
    fabric. You really improved the
look of this piece by stitching
it on the lighter fabric. It is
a delight, and makes a nice
    companion to the BBD bunny.

It would appear that you've been
given quite a few choices as a
third bunny for this set so it
will be interesting to see which
    one you decide to stitch.

Wish we had Hobby Lobby in Canada
because they seem to sell really
    lovely frames.

    Cheers!

  79. oh i do like Briar Rabbit, especially on the lighter fabric, i have pondered over buying this because the design on darker fabric put me off.
I also love bbd's easter parade, i have tried to get this pattern for a few months without any joy, i so would have loved to stitch this one

now I did come across a rabbit design on 123 stitch- claires carrot hunt by katkid designs i think this one is very similar type to the 2 you've stitched, i hope you like it
