Fair & Square~~4th of July round

I received the cutest squares in the mail today from Melissa P! (no blog yet) She stitched LHN's Stars and Stripes......you know, I completely forgot that I have this chart and now I don't have to stitch it either!!!

She also sent some great patriotic goodies: fabric, a cute flag button, WDW in Old Glory and Independence (perfect) and a cute hanging heart! Thank you so much Melissa for the fabulous exchange, I love everything!!!

Melissa also received the squares I stitched for her...

Bent Creek Holiday Snappers; Happy Independence Day
fabric: 32ct oyster linen
fibers: DMC
I really loved this round as I adore/collect/decorate with lots of Americana! Right now I'm thinking of finishing this square into a tiny pillow...I have a basket of little stitched patriotic pillows and this would be the perfect addition :) Thank you Melissa for a great exchange!

Both great patriotic designs! I like your idea about putting them in a basket.

Great exchanges. I love patriotic themed designs.
In regards to your comment on my blog about hand-dying fabric. I use RIT Dye...both the powder that comes in the box and the pre-mixed in the bottles. In my usual fashion I never follow the package directions! I mix the powder not with the gallons of water recomended, but in small Mason jars to get intense colors. Then I pour a bit out at a time into the sink (or sometimes old pots;don't want to stain the stuff we eat off of!)and add water until I get a color I like. I also "paint" with foam brushes dipped into the jars ro spotch it on by squeezing the liquid out of the foam brush onto certain areas. Hope this helps. BTW, go to my blog and see the patriotic piece I dyed a few days ago.

What a wonderful exchange!! Both the one given and the one received are great. I sort of collect patriotic, too. Never enough of it. Great job.
