"Mama Bird" by Brightneedle, published in the April 2002 issue of Just Cross Stitch. I thought it was the perfect quick selfish stitching project to do in the middle of all the exchange stitching that's been taking place ;) And it's proceeding quickly considering I started it yesterday afternoon! It would actually be finished if I hadn't decided I wanted to try making a scissor sheath, which lead to a ring tag...which could possibly lead to a scissor fob. The stitchy version of "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie", so to speak lol!!!

back of ring tag and scissor sheath
I decided to try making a scissor sheath since I have a really large collection of scissors, and most of them don't have the leather sheaths to protect the tips. This was a pretty quick and easy little project, although I think I would make any future sheaths an inch or so longer~~I think this one is just a tad too short. And I may have to fiddle with the assembly too ;)
And...I finally found the magazine with the 3 red mini-samplers! The Aug/Sept 1999 issue of The Needleworker......I hope you have this in your stash because it's an oldie and definately a goodie! I had it set aside because there is a very cute piece in it called "Fall Samplings" by the The Goode Huswife that I stitched for a dear friend last year and plan to re-stitch for myself (someday!)
Wishing you a happy stitchy day!!!

Staci,
You find the cutest patterns. I am a huge fan of brightneedle and love that piece you just did. I should have that magazine and will have to look it up as well as those 3 red mini samplers. Thank you for sharing all your good knowledge.

Hi Staci,
I really am curious about the tag that is stitched and is on the ring with the floss - very different and cute.
Yes, the scissor sheath probably should be a bit bigger, but who knows you could be starting a whole new trend!!!
Happy stitching
Roberta
Beautiful as always, Staci :) You do such lovely pieces :)
I've never heard of the Needleworker magazine...oh no...I feel compulsion coming on!!!! LOL!
I love the brightneedle piece...now I need to go find my magazines!
Those birdies are absolutely adorable! And these are such cute finishes. Nicely done!!
I love all of your finishes! You must do a tutorial on that scissor sheath :-)
Love that little 'Mama bird'. I'll have to hunt for my JXS issue. I have three baby birds of my own - all grown up, but they will always be my babies!
Nice work as always, Staci! Love your finishes, they're always so perfect looking. :)
And I'm so disappointed, I've got every magazine but the Needleworker!
Oh thats so sweet, I do love these ring tags.
I love the finishes! Great job. Where can you find the fancy eyelet that you used? It's nice.

O my goodness... and you did all of that yesterday?!!??!!??!!!! The Brightneedle design is so sweet and sounds just perfect for you!! The floss ring tag and scissors sheath are very pretty!!!!!
I'm thinking of the School House Rock song (remember those songs? Or are you too young?) called Three is a Magic Number. :)
Love these projects - and thank you for the magazine tips! - but surely you could not have done all this in a single day?!!
Lovely finishes!
Just gorgeous Staci!
Beautiful finishes as always Staci!
Wow Staci! What a gorgeous set! I love everything! :)
Ooooh, a scissor sheath, what a great idea! I love visiting your blog and being inspired :)
Staci, you do such nice work and you write such great posts! I was so excited that I actually recognized your Mama Bird and babies piece as by Brightneedle before I read that it was. I guess I'm not a newbie any more. I second the motion for a tutorial on the scissors sheath.

Brightneedle, Yes! They have great designs.
Another awesome floss fob. I made one but I mounted it on cardboard and the only eyelet/grommet that would work was the one that you used. It has a front and back piece so it fit the thickness of my fob.
just discovered your blog & I WILL be back!!!!!! Three is a great number for children!!!
Love all your stitched pieces. Printer just printed the floss tag tutorial!
What a gorgeous collection!!
I love all your finishes, they are always fantastic!
