Is that embroidery?

I did this over the summer and just never got around to blogging about it. So, this summer's day found me with the urge to embroider a new set of pillowcases (because it's been a while since my bed has seen any new ones.) And after a massive search through all my patterns and pre-printed sets, Goldilocks just couldn't find anything. So off to Michael's at 7:30 in the evening, because NOTHING else would do.

I found these. And they were JUST RIGHT. Not too complex. Not too frilly. Sweet colors. And quickly stitched the first one up as soon as I got home. And alas! The need for embroidery was filled and so poor Goldilocks' Hubby must rest his head on a plain pillowcase.

Please don't look at my satin stitches too closely (or judge me too harshly!) They have always been a thorn in my side. But I did read some helpful tips in an embroidery book at the library and so will give them a try the next time around.

It's Friday! Have a Happy One!!!

Very cheery pattern. Your stitches look fine to me.
Poor DH.. a plain pillowcase is just so, so boring!

I love these! I also have the urge to do some old fashioned surface embroidery once in a while! Next to cross stitch its almost instant gratification!

I really like your pillow cases. Do you just have a plain white bedspread that they go with or do you embroider the bed sheet too? I'd quite like to have a go at that. I did embroider some jeans for my little girl once. x

I think it is beautiful! Boy this sure takes me back, makes me want to go and get some and make my own! Wish there were more hours in the day!!

I love that lil pillow with the alphabet and scissors at the top...was that a complimentary design by someone online? It seems familiar, just can't place it! Thanks, Staci!

Beautiful pillowcases Staci! I have some vintage linens stamped for embroidery that I want to do SO bad, but they'll have to wait I'm afraid. I look at your pillowcases you have shown on your blog for inspiration!

I love your embroidering. I havent done embroidery since I was 12 or 13. My grandma bought me some pot holders and some other stuff and I embroidered. That was about all I did , I did a few projects and then never any more needlework till I was 25 yrs old and now I will be going on 40.cross stitch is still my passion, althoughI"m self taught and not very good.lol

Your embroidery reminds me of the pillowcases my mom and grandma did so many years ago. Very pretty. And I love the heart-with-scissors pin cushion in your basket.
