Empty Sock Needles

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you'll know that my favorite way to start the week is with a new pair of handknitted socks. But three pairs? Why, that's a record even for me, lol ;) I had three pairs of socks on the needles...so I worked diligently to get them done. Afterall, I have hordes of other socks to be knit.

I can't find the ball band for this yarn. But I spoke about my disappointment with it here. These were a bit of a trial to knit (because of the yarn issues), so I feel especially triumphant about persevering and not just rippping the things to shreds. Saying that I enjoyed seaming up the toes would be an incredible understatement, lol ;) They've washed up wonderfully, who would've guessed??? These are just my standard 56st stockinette socks on size 2 needles.

This next pair I had to knit during the holiday season. I mean the yarn just said "holidays" in an understated sort of way. It reminded me of gingerbread and candy canes. Click on the pics to see it better.

And this final pair has been on the needles for a year??? So I finally got busy and got them finished too. This is one of my favorite patterns. With a few adjustments~~I leave out the garter ridge before starting the heel and I knit the heel in plain stockinette. The yarn is one of my faves; soft and squishy and pretty inexpensive as far as sock yarns go.

I kept track last year of my knitted finishes that came from stash yarn and racked up 30...half of my knitty finishes! Some of them were small items like washcloths or socks, but there were a couple sweaters too. Of course, looking at my yarn stash, you can't tell I knit anything from it. So to make a bigger dent in it, I'm going to try to knit at least half my knitty finishes from the stash this year too :) At least I know I've got a lot to choose from, LOL!!!

Thanks for stopping by my neck of the woods and all your wonderful comments. It's Monday, have a good one!

Happy New Year --- I am looking for the chart to stitch a piece I saw on your blog, but I can't find it as I don't know the designer, it says "merry winter" and has a quaker look to it. Could you tell me the designer and if it is a single chart or in a booklet.. thanks so much.. Martha

Gorgeous socks Staci! I'm wearing my one and only pair of handknitted-by-me socks today and they're so cosy in this cold weather we're having. I really must get around to making a second pair sometime ;)

Those socks look so warm. I've never tried to knit a pair of socks, but I think I should. I especially love the yarn and design of your last pair.

Staci, I don't know how you whip up socks so fast!! And on double needles! I've only made one sock and it was like 2 sizes too big...done on 2 circular needles. It was a disaster! lol

Love your socks!

I am going to echo everyone else: These socks look so wonderfully warm and cozy! We're in a deep freeze where I live (probably where you are too), so such a pair of socks looks particularly snuggly. Congratulations!!

Gorgeous socks! Love the feather n fan ones. I did a couple of scarves in that pattern a few years back. Loely to do. How hard is it to knit on 4 needles anyhow?? x

I would love to watch you knit. I bet it looks completely effortless and your needles just fly! It's been pretty cold here. Those socks look really comfy about now.

Just love, love love all your socks! I actually have a pair (half a pair?)on my little #2s but it's going nowhere fast. I have made it up (down?) the leg part but I'm stuck at the heel. I just can't make sense of it. I am a lefty "Norwegian-style" knitter and my mother is a standard righty, so no help from that camp. I'll have six-foot long tubes by the time I'm done!

Gorgeous socks! I'm knitting a pair of plain vanilla socks now with Happy Feet. The yarn has wonderful stitch definition.
