I've also been keeping myself quite occupied with secret stuff. So frustrating to not share and see, but hopefully you'll be patient with me and I'll show you as soon as I can!
I do have a few things to show you though. Very, very good things in fact. My very first pair of handknit socks.....That-Were-Knit-By-Someone-Else! I was so excited to win these lovelies from Denise. Because when you knit, Other People Do Not Knit For You, because they figure you can knit your own. This reasoning is wrong. Very wrong. A fellow knitter makes the perfect "knitted gift" recipient because he/she completely understands the ins-and-outs and ups-and-downs of "the knitted gift". And on that note, I must say that I adore my new socks. They bring me joy when I look at them. I cherish the time and workmanship. I marvel at the perfect fit. They will warm my heart as well as my feet every time I wear them :) Thank You Denise!!!
Harmien sent me this sweet "Happy Summer" package. I think the card is so cute and the napkins have been a fun treat to use on our picnics :) Thank you Harmien for being such a thoughtful friend!
Every time I saw these skeins in my stash, I thought the yarn was really quite ugly and wondered what possessed me to buy them. Finally sick of looking at them, I grabbed them out and cast on some plain socks. And as they formed, I found I really liked the colors and striping and wow~~it worked out after all. So the moral of the story: Never judge the socks by it's skein!
56st basic stockinette
size: women's sm/med
yarn: Heart & Sole by Red Heart, color #3940 Green Envy
2 skeins: 50g/213yds each
needles: size 2 dpn's
Well dear ones, I think that brings my little blog up-to-date. Thank you for your continued visits and kind comments. And thank you for your sweet comments on this blanket. I made it several years ago for Youngest. I crocheted quite a lot before the knitting bug really bit me. And I still continue to crochet afghans (every few years) because I find knitting them to be slooow work. And where afghans are concerned, for me, it's unquestionably all about the finished project, lol!!! Wishing you a Happy Day!!!

Wow! Those socks are incredible!!
Those socks are wonderful. The first pair looks so warm. I can't even imagine making socks, but I guess you don't know until you tried. Yours are inspiring.
I really love your knitting. I do a little of it, mainly in the winter. Look at my blog sometime if you have time: http://rosetintedenchantments.blogspot.com
sorry. It's http://rostintedenchantments1.blogspot.com
What great socks to add to your collection, both the ones you received and the ones you made yourself. I think I would drool over that sock drawer (at least in the winter!)
Cute gifties from Harmien too. Have fun on the picnics!
Love the socks! What a nice package of goodies you received.
I'm with you, don't know where the time is going! Seems like August is just around the corner.
The socks Ruth sent you are just AWESOME! Funny, I love your green socks, perfect for frogging! Kick the crap out of those darned frogs!
Those are fabulous socks, lucky you! I like the socks you knit too, those are definitely my kind of colours :)
Wow, those socks are awesome. Cabling on socks...wow! I like your socks too. I saw the yarn at Joanns and almost bought it. Nice to see it knits up all fun and colorful!
both pair of socks are beautiful! No way could I tackle them, so I do enjoy watching you create them!
Amazing socks!
I love the Green Envy socks! That is one of my favorite yarn colors. I made a pair a few months ago and they were snatched up immediately by my neighbor. I need to make another pair for myself. The socks from Ruth are amazing. That cabling work is so detailed...just spectacular!
Love the socks! Can't wait to see what you are working on!
I SO agree about wanting more handknit things now that I'm a knitter.
What is this ridiculousness of knitters not knitting things for other knitters? (or the ridiculous of that sentence?)
I propose a revolt. :)
Oh yay, a post from you! I've been checking every day. The socks (the gift pair and your own) are awesome. Just one question - don't your feet get hot in the summer when you wear them? (I think the heat here in the Northeast is getting to me...)
GREAT socks!!!!! :)
How sweet of you to post my socks. You have to know how this makes me feel.I'm afraid I have to make a correction. My name is Denise not Ruth so sorry.
Wow I LOVE those socks that Ruth sent you and the ones you knitted too. Lovely gift from Harmien.
Love the socks your received, very special from one knitter to another. Also love the green stripy ones too, they knitted up beautifully.
The colour of your socks looks lovely knitted up, I am a fan of green. I think another knitter is the ideal person to knit for as they can truly appreciate the love, time and effort that goes into creating them. Enjoy wearing them both. All the best, Shirley
Those are gorgeous!!
Wonderful socks - well done. I cannot believe where the time goes either. Michelle x
Love the colorful socks that you won! I'm looking forward to seeing all of your secret stuff!
What wonderful gifts!! Aren't blogging friends the best??
Pretty socks and a wonderful gift.
Fab socks - both pairs. I am working on my second hooky blanket. Crochet is so quick to do. Love it. x

Man, those are some gorgeous socks! Love both pairs. Wish I knew someone that could knit me a pair.
I'm just glad my feet can't see the computer monitor or they'd be jealous and demanding of a better wardrobe!!
Your socks are a dream, both pairs.
Just the other day we were saying how much faster July went by than the other months!
Congratulations on both winning a beautiful pair of socks and knitting a pair. I love the colors and can just see them paired with a big, warm sweater in the cold winter!
Have a wonderful weekend Staci!
The gift socks are beautiful. I never would have though of putting a cable in self-striping yarn. It looks great!
this summer is sailing by! beautiful socks : )
Oh, the socks! I'm such a novice that all I knit are plain socks, but I love them. Thank goodness for fabulous, funky, fancy sock yarn.
Both pairs of socks are work of art Staci!
