This scarf was so much fun to knit. Self-striping yarn is endlessly amusing :)
A really simple, effective pattern designed to use your entire skein(s) of sock yarn. I love the history behind it...a traditional Norwegian pattern named after a character in a children's tale.
So versatile! And warm. And lightweight.
I used the same yarn and colorway as my Midsomer Mitts. My mitt and scarf set isn't "matchy-matchy", they're only "sorta matchy". But that's good enough for me.

Beautiful and cheerful!
Wow that is a nice scarf!! Love the colors too.
It's just beautiful - love the spring-like colors! Can't wait to see your next one.
I love that. I was looking for a good scarf pattern for sock yarn. Heart and Sole yarn is nice and soft and comes in beautiful shades. Not sure I'm really into size 3 needles given how slow I knit, but its worth a shot.
Thanks for the link.
so pretty Staci!!! Love it!
I gave up on mine!!! The yarn is still laying on the needles in the same position it was in before the triplets visit last month!
I can't begin to tell you how much I am admiring that scarf!! I wish I was a knitter!

Hi,
I learned to knit years ago from my Grandmother and started knitting a little two years ago but haven't done much lately. Your blog has inspired me to start knitting again. I am going to try the Baktus scarf. Wish me luck.

Gorgeous Staci! Love the colours.
Oooh, that looks fun. My sister gave me a knitting class for Christmas. We start tomorrow night by making a bag to felt. Maybe in a few weeks I'll have something cool to show.
It's gorgeous! I love the way the direction of the stripes seem to change after it comes over the shoulders!
Love the scarf. It looks like something I could handle after conquering sock heels! I've been looking for an excuse to buy some "Heart & Sole" yarn anyway.
Great scarf,Staci! And thanks for the link. I'm doing a fun Ann Norling scarf called Short Row MultiDirectional Scarf; bet you'd like it too.
I love that scarf Traci. Great colors too. And now I'm very curious how the other one will look.

Hi Staci,
Wonderful colours! Can you tell me who designed the pattern in your sidebar that says" Lets all sing like the birdies sing"? you did a wonderful job on it and I know I have seen it before but can't remember where.
thank you , Jennifer
It's beautiful and I'm guessing it's as much fun to wear as it was to knit!

I love this but then I am someone with a scarf feddish. I have 3 containers full of them and am always looking for more. I don't knit but you can bet I will be sharing this with my mother and begging her as she does...lol! Hope this keeps you toasty warm in the winter months.
Hugs ~

What a beautiful yarn colour, Staci!
You are so talented!
I can't knitting nor crochet at all!
My mum does, but she is not good at knitting, she prefer crochet, so I want to ask her to knit such beauty, she would say she can't!
I have never seen such lovely scarf!!
