Here comes the sun!

Yesterday was cloudy and made the day feel blah, so today's sun was very welcome!!! I finally took myself to the Dr. today (I'm still battling a sore throat and cough), and he thinks it's all sinus related. Well, I'm armed with antibiotics and nasal spray now......look out!

I stitched a companion pattern to the Victorian pinkeep, it was a quick stitch, and finish (my fave!) I sort of worked backwards on this one: had the pattern, fell in love with the backing fabric~~and made everything else match it!

Just Cross Stitch, August 2007
"Pandora's Sewing Box"
fabric: 32ct evenweave remnant
fiber: DMC 816

And it's sock season......err, I mean track season. And in another week softball season, and then t-ball. I get a lot of sock-knitting done this time of year, they're the perfect project to tote along to track meets. For example: typical middle school meet lasts 4hrs,they hardly ever start on time, oldest runs the 100m (which is somewhere near the beginning of meet and lasts approximately 30 seconds) 400m (which is right in the middle of the meet and lasts approx 3 minutes) and 200m (which is usually the last event and last about 90 seconds.) So during a typical 4hr track meet, we see oldest compete for approximately 5 minutes......that translates into LOTS of knitting time!

pattern: basic stockinette, women's med

needles: knitpicks size 1 dpn's

yarn: Aktion by Lang yarns

color: #206/October

I'm pretty pleased with the striping on these socks. I actually went through the trouble of finding the right place in the stripes to start the second sock and cut the yarn. I've NEVER done that before, usually I'm not fussed about the stripes matching up. Although with this yarn and those blocks of brown striping, I thought it might look a bit weird if they didn't match. And if they seem short in the leg to you......well, they are. I like shorter socks, and well, I'm short too~~so that equals a pretty short sock! Does make the knitting go faster though :)

I'm off to get my evening chores finished up so that I can move on to the more important task of needlework!!! And you have 4 days left to leave a comment on the previous post to be entered in the tin drawing!

And I'm having serious spacing issues with blogger if anyone has some suggestions!!!

I love the pinkeep! Is that velvet ribbon? It turned out so great! And that fabric is really beautiful.

Your socks turned out wonderfully as well. I'm a little on the short side, too, and I like my socks short. So I understand :)

That is so pretty - LOVE the backing fabric!!! I admire all pinkeeping people...I made one and that was it. LOL Those are great socks - Ben is on Track too and it started this week. Baseball is a great time when I bring out my stitching - ah, warm weather - where are you?

Wow, that's just perfect. Beautiful fabric you used for the back.
I guess with all that running around that the kids are doing, you'll have warm and toasty feet for the rest of the year... LOL!! Happy knitting season!

Beautiful pinkeep Staci - I can see why you fell for the fabric first - it's gorgeous.

I not only short I have tiny feet too so socks are always far too big so I buy little boy socks.

Your spacing looks fine.

Ahh, so I have finally found the stitching genius who creates the Floss Tags! They are beautiful. Thanks to my friends in Holland for sharing the photos of them on their blogs. The socks are beautiful too! You are such an artist. I am happy to finally "meet" you.

Love the pinkeep. The backing fabric is fantastic. We derive our inspirations from all kinds of things.

Socks are great. I cannot knit. Have tried, but not successful, so am always envious of those that can and make such cute things.

What spacing problem are you having? Is it between lines? I see that some are double spaced and some single spaced. Have not had that problem. Had paragraphing problems and got that figured out. There might be something in the HTML coding that you might be able to pick out.
