A little bit of everything

Today was the first day of school in my neck of the woods, and by all reports a good day for all! After a busy and noisy summer, the quiet today was wonderful!!! Youngest is a big first-grader this year......thus ending 5 straight years of going back to school every 2-3 hrs to pick up kiddos :)

Since I didn't have to spend my day acting as diner, taxi, hotel, entertainer, referee and sheriff...I got a few things finished :)

Fall freebie by
Homespun Elegance
fabric: 32ct lambswool linen
fibers: WDW, GAST, DMC~~my own selection

This was so quick and fun. Just what the Dr. ordered after seeing others stitching cute fall/halloween stuff. I photographed them with my Putfords so you can see it's kind of a small tag.

And I've knit the world's ugliest socks. This is some unknown sportweight (non-striping, just variegated) in Oldest's favorite colors, knit as anklets (her fave sock.) She loves them and thinks they're "cool", I think they're hideous and would've just as soon thrown them away...

48st basic sock
women's size small
unknown sportweight yarn
Lantern Moon size 3 dpn's

I signed up for a PIF with Ginger at Primitives by the Light of the Moon. She was really quick on the draw because look at the goodies that showed up in my mailbox today :) Thanks Ginger!!!

So I'm offering another PIF here and now, if you're interested then please let me know and I'll send you something within the next 365 days :)

Love the Halloween tag, very cute! And the socks aren't so ugly, in fact I think they're sweet.

I would love to do a PIF, but even a deadline of 365 days scares me off, so I think I will have to pass.
How wonderful to have a full day for yourself! You've spent your time very wisely. And honestly, I can't tell what's wrong with the socks. I think they;'re adorable!

Hi Staci,

That's a cute little Halloween
finish you've done. Love the
little cat leaping over the
pumpkin like that. And the
little gromit thingy is in
orange to match the pumpkin!
Cool.

Wow, those are some fancy socks!
Well, at least your eldest will
see that they get used so the
wool and your time weren't
wasted.

That's a really cute pillow
that Ginger stitched for you.
The flowers are so sweet, and
colourful.

It must feel strange not to
have any little kidlets running
around the house now that
school is back. Schools still
have another week and a half
before they get back in
session here.

Cheers!!

Very cute Halloween finish, Staaci, and a wonderful PIF from Ginger.

My girls go back to school in just under 2 weeks. Not looking forward to it at all as the house will be so quiet! I don't know where the holidays have gone.

I would love to join your PIF too. How much fun is this? Can I join if I don't have a blog? You have such great ideas and can whip out these cute floss tags. I don't think I am very talented in putting them together. What do you put in the middle? pj

Staci,
You're my hero - I don't know if you are the fastest stitcher/finisher in the world or what. I plug along feeling all pleased at myself and then I look at your site and you have 3 dozen cross stitch items stitched and FINISHED into something, socks knit, a PIF etc.!!! Can you share your secret??

I love the way you photograph stuff - very tastefully done! You are truly an inspiration.

I loved your comment about not being a "sheriff" - been there done that! I remember thinking "I'm FREE! I'm FREE!" on the first day of school. I was a bit sad to see summer end and the kids gone to school but I sure did relish that first day more than any other day of the school year which afforded me the same freedoms as the first day, but somehow that was the one that always got me all a flutter!

There's no accounting for taste - as long as eldest loves the socks, who cares!

Great floss tag and even greater socks. I wonder why the kids prefer anklets? I like my ankles to be warm but it's probably my age :o)
