Some of you may recall that I have a Wednesday night knit group. We meet for dinner and then go knit at one of the local coffee shops. These are not just my knitting buddies any more. I think it's been around 5 years or so since we all met, and these women are some of my best friends.
Beginning in April through the end of July, I am usually unable to attend Wed nite knitting because of my parental obligations. Why is it that track meets and school concerts and ballgames and such, always seem scheduled for Wednesdays? But starting tonight, Wednesday nights are relatively mine again ;)

I was reading Barbara's blog post today about making gifts for others. And it is so true! I think about the recipient the entire time I work on their gift. Adding good thoughts and wishes with each little stitch.
size: Women's med/lg
yarn: Lambs Pride Superwash by Brown Sheep, color# SW43 Romantic Ruby
needles: size 8 dpn's
This is for my good knitting friend Karen (no blog) who celebrated her birthday Saturday. Some cozy socks to keep her tootsies toasty and some natural soaps.
It's amazing how simple little needles can stitch a beautiful friendship together!

Oh, more socks! You know how I feel about your socks. Enjoy your knittin' night.
They are lovely. So happy you get to have your Wednesdays back. I feel that way about Thursdays when my stitch group meets. Knitting is so therapeutic. Thanks for sharing such a inspirational blog.

I love the knitted socks - they look so warm and cozy! What a lovely gift for your friend. I agree that needles, no matter what type, create such wonderful friendships.
The socks are great--they make me wish for cool weather! Thanks for the nice comment on my blog for the tip--I will definitely try the RIT dye.
Great socks - are they easy to knit? I have very small feet and bought socks are always too big for me!
Just a couple hours a week can really build a friendship. Glad you have such a great group of friends, cute socks. CJ ok;-)
Staci,
I love admiring your knitting as much as your needlework :) The sox are lovely! Makes me wonder if I should try knitting again? Hmmmm.....

What a great gift!
I just love my knitting friends--I've been knitting with them for about 4 years and they are some of my closest and best friends.
Very nice! i always love knitting but I just cant seem to sit and do it, i feel like i need that book knitting for dummies, lol. I do have a knitting machine I enjoy using but would love to have a pair of knit socks. You have some lucky friends ^_^
Those socks look nice and toasty warm! What a great little gift for your friend!
I have you set up on my google reader. I love coming here and when I saw your commentary about thoughts of the receiver of your gifts I wanted to share what I include with mine. I print this on the reverse side of the care instructions for any hand stitched gift. I wrote it for my first a baby blanket gift and anyone is welcome to use this.
every stitch contains a prayer.
lifted up by me for you.
a prayer for health
a prayer for grace
a prayer to sustain you no matter what you face.
so everytime this gift you see.
remember you are prayed for by me.
love and prayers

You are so right about little needles and beautiful friendship! Amazing words, thank you :)
And very lovely socks! They look so warm, it will be great gift :)
Staci! Such a very special, heart smiling gift!
What a lovely gift, Staci! I hope you had a great night with friends.
I've been meaning to tell you that your patriotic stitching has been a hot topic amongst my friends. I spent the day with a friend this week & while shopping, we kept looking for things that would look nice around our baskets that we'd stitch like yours. Same with the LNS--it was mentioned there, too. I know that three of the people I spoke with who loved your stitching aren't bloggers so they probably haven't told you just how much your stitching has been admired, so thought I'd let you know why your ears are burning--in a very good way. ;) Thanks for the inspiration!
Those are great socks and you've packaged them up to look so pretty.
A lovely gift!
Enjoy your Wednesday knitting group.
Super gift for Karen, nice socks.
Your knitting group sounds to be a lot of fun. What a pretty b/d gift you made!
I love those hiking socks!
Oh what a beautiful package. It is so lovely to receive a thoughtful handmade gift, it really lifts the heart.
Hope you had a lovely time on wednesday.
I adore hand knitted socks. What a great gift combined with the soaps. I am sure they will be treasured.
Groups like you have for knitting are so much fun. I host a quilt group that comes here once a month. My house is full of laughter. They come again tomorrow. Good thing as I need some diversion for my throat biopsy the next day. *gulp*
Hugs ~
Heidi
Woot! Knitting is so much fun! And knitting groups are my favorite thing to do.
Happy knitting time!!
Lovely gifts
Hi Staci, as always I love what you knit and the socks are just great and like the idea of packing them up with some homemade soap.
