Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Really, truly I've been stitching. But there is precious little to show. Mailed out Mairi's Halloween F&S Friday, but forgot to take a pic of them before I wrapped 'em up. Got my HoE Prairie Schooler exchange stitched, will do the finishing this week. Started Vonna's ornie for the ornament swap. And I've been putting a few stitches in here and there on my first set of PIF's. So yup, lot's of stitching and nothing to show.

Because I like to post with pics, here are some of Hubby's handwork: woodcarving. Now where I must follow a pattern using someone else's ideas, Hubby lets "the wood speak to him". Uhhh, yeah......the only thing wood ever says to me is it wants to go into the fireplace :)

A face mask he carved out of a piece of 2x6 pine. He generously donated this piece to the annual PTO silent auction held every spring at the boys' school. Isn't he talented??? He doesn't see himself as talented...but he really is a natural-born artist. I mean honestly, only an artist can create a thing of beauty out of a plain piece of lumber.

Oh WOW, that is just amazing, what a truly talented man your hubby is. It reminds me of an old man goblin or fairy folk man, and people that know me well know that I love my goblins especially ones that look true and real and not too comical looking.
I wish my hubby was that talented with a piece of wood, like you said he would just put it on the fire. (Men have a fascination with fire, dont you think!!) hmm

That mask is incredibly cool. Can he do mini-faces for little dolls? Those are my latest passion.

OMG Staci! Everyone in your family is talented!! lol

Amazing work your husband did there! And to donate it to the PTO, good man. I was President of our PTO at my daughter's school for a couple of years so I know how this will be very much appreciated! We used to have silent actions also, I'm sure this will bring a pretty penny for the school!

You know, with the talent that runs in your family, you should open up your own business selling your crafts, I'm sure it would be wildly successful! :D

Your husband's talent is amazing! I really don't know how anyone can do something like this just looking at a piece of lumber. There is so much expression in this mask. Wow!

Hi
Loved your blog!
Working wood like that surely means that your husband is a really talented craftsman.
I'm going to ad you to my links list, hope you don't mind.
Last year I also made some ornaments to my Christmas tree. Now, that I saw some of the Prairie Schooler designs I want to do some more.
Will be back once in a while!

Wow! he is very talented, often people with great talents do not realise how good their work is.

To draw a face like that would be talented, to carve it out of a piece of wood is beyond that.

Are you going to show more of his work. I for one would love to see some.
